Message from the Pre-K Coordinator

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to Camden Central Schools' Universal Pre-Kindergarten program. This year your child will be part of a safe, nurturing environment that is filled with learning activities. Our faculty and staff will foster and inspire your child's love for learning and provide him/her with the academic skills needed to bridge the path from Pre-K to elementary school.

Each day the children will be immersed in emergent literacy activities, such as; speaking, listening, writing and thinking. In addition, they will develop social, emotional and physical skills. Our curriculum will follow the New York State standards and guidelines. I am confident your child will experience a year filled with learning as well as fun and excitement!

Often times I am asked the question, "What can I do to help my child be successful in school?" In order for your child to have a successful academic career, it is important for them to see you as a lifelong learner. Participate and share with them the importance of education, and develop a partnership with the school to meet your child's needs. Above all, read to your child every day! We have excellent resources for you and your child. This year there is a new student lending library and a parent resource library with lots of great books to foster a love of reading and to offer parental support.

This year, I am pleased to announce that we have a parent liaison who will work as an advocate to connect home and school. We are also fortunate to have a PK reading teacher that will rotate weekly at each site to foster a love of reading and to improve early literacy skills.

I have attempted to cover the questions parents/guardians often ask on the following pages of this site. Feel free to contact me with any other questions you may have.
