Superintendent's Corner

Message from the Superintendent of Schools,
Mrs. Mary Lynne Szczerba

It is truly an honor to serve as your superintendent of this phenomenal school community that works diligently to provide a strong academic focus within a caring supportive environment. We are continuing a long tradition of actively engaging students in learning. Our school community is welcoming, high achieving, and energetic!

As you travel through this website you see students of all ages engaged in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math though using problem solving skills and technology. You will see our students using engineering tools, Lego Robotics, 3D printing, and other authentic applications of learning. You will experience the performances of our many theatrical and musical groups. We received the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) award that featured our music program and our community involvement in the area of music. We celebrate the arts as a school community.

In other areas, we are very proud of our grades Kindergarten through Grade Twelve comprehensive writing program that prepares our students for all areas of writing. Our extra-curricular activities are extensive and provide creative expression in many motivating areas.

This year we have entered into a partnership for a school bank that will support experiences in finance, as well as, in entrepreneurship. We have added a school broadcasting studio that will be capable of producing news shows. Three new college level classes have been added that include environmental science, marketing and art. We are planning multiple opportunities for internships during the next school year. We have a 90 percent graduation rate!

The school district received the Bronze Award from U.S. News and World Reports. This is due to the rigor we offer in our courses as well as our graduation rate. We are proud to be recognized nationally, but we are most proud of the work that our students, faculty, and staff accomplish each day.

In the area of athletics, we are focusing on strength and conditioning training to further enhance the opportunities of our successful athletes. During the recent past we have celebrated students who have broken school records, competed successfully in many regional championship games and have had several students compete at the state level. We have expanded our facility at Camden High School and at Camden Middle School in this area. It is an exciting time to be a Camden athlete!

We believe in students “Dreaming Big”. Every child has the opportunity to follow his or her dream through career exploration starting in Kindergarten. We support our students by providing many extra opportunities to learn as evidenced by our after school reading and writing clubs, our summer enrichment camp, and our CHOICE Program. We are preparing students for careers that do not yet exist!

There is so much going on in our school district, and I encourage you to become involved! Please join us for the many activities in our district. Thank you to all who contribute to the success of our District both past and present. Your ideas, involvement, and enthusiasm are woven into the successful Camden Central School District. Without a doubt, the 2016-2017 School Year will be our best school year yet!
