On Saturday, January 27, 2018, the Camden High School Science Olympiad team participated in the Regional Competition at LeMoyne College.  Our team consisted of 19 members, grades 9-12.  The team competed against 40 other schools and came home with a 4th place overall medal, earning them a spot in the state competition in March.  The students competed in 26 different events, earning medals in 17.  The events, awards and students that competed are listed below:

Herpetology 5th place-Lydia Houser and Carly VanAllen

Hovercraft 4th place-Erin Bourgeois and Mary Buckingham

Materials Science 6th place-LeRyiah Buckingham and Regan Ingalls

Microbe Mission 8th place-Erin Bourgeois and Marika Stauring

Mission Possible 5th place-Matthew Brayman and Maiya Turner

Mousetrap Vehicle 5th place -Sierra Amo and Haidyn Hawkes

Optics 9th place-Greg Lyon and Colin Ross

Parasitology 5th place -Sydney Dean and Holland Hawkes

Remote Sensing 3rd place-Jenna VanAllen and Matthew Brayman

Thermodynamics 10th place-Greg Lyon and Colin Ross

Write It Do It 10th place- Sierra Amo and Haidyn Hawkes

 

Some of the other events that the students competed in were Rocks and Minerals, Ecology, Helicopters, Duct Tape Challenge, Astronomy, Fermi, Quiz Bowl, Dynamic Planet and Chem Lab.
