 The Board of Education Continues Search for New Superintendent of Schools

On January 22nd and January 25th, the Camden Central School District Board of Education will continue its search for a new Superintendent of Schools when two finalists spend the day in the school district.  During the course of the visits, the candidates will meet with representatives of the student leadership groups, community and parents, as well as the administrative, teaching and non-instructional staff.  While visiting the district, the candidates will have the opportunity to tour some of the facilities and learn more about the culture of the district. 

Following the visits by the two candidates, the Board of Education will select a final candidate for further consideration.  The Board anticipates the appointment of a Superintendent no later than mid-February.  The two finalists for the position are: 


Dr. Ravo RootDr. Ravo Root – Dr. Root will visit the district on Monday, January 22, 2018. Dr. Root has served as the Superintendent of Schools in the Fillmore CSD since 2012. Prior to that, he served as the Middle School Principal in the Pioneer CSD for 3 years, in addition to serving the East Syracuse Minoa CSD from 2000 to 2004 as an Assistant Principal. He also brings with him 8 years of experience as a Social Studies teacher. Dr. Root received his Bachelor of Arts degree from LeMoyne, Masters in Education from SUNY Cortland and his Educational Leadership and Doctorate in Education from Syracuse University. He is currently a member of the NYSCOSS House of Delegates and serves as the Vice-Chair of the Cattaraugus-Alleghany County Superintendent's Executive Leadership Committee.  Dr. Root is actively involved in his community and holds membership in multiple professional organizations.


Mr. Todd FreemanMr. Todd Freeman – Mr. Freeman will visit the district on Thursday, January 25, 2018. Mr. Freeman has been employed with the West Genesee CSD since 2010. He currently serves as the Elementary Principal at Split Rock Elementary, a position he has served since 2010. Prior to becoming the Elementary Principal, he served as Assistant Principal in the West Genesee Middle school for 3 years. While serving the district, Mr. Freeman has been responsible for many district-wide initiatives, such as strategic planning and the district safety plan to mention a few. He brings with him 12 years of teaching experience in grades 4-6 along with a history of significant coaching successes. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Syracuse University, his Masters in Reading from SUNY Cortland and his Educational Leadership degree from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Mr. Freeman has participated in multiple professional development opportunities, is involved in his community and is a member of several professional organizations.

Board President, Brandie Collins commented on the quality of the candidates which the Board interviewed.  “The Board was extremely impressed with the quality of the pool of applicants.  We are excited to announce the two finalists, both of which are highly qualified and talented educational leaders."
