The Camden Central School has a vacancy for the 2026-2027 school year in the following position:

Position Details

Title: Cook Manager
Location: Camden High School
Start Date: September 1, 2026, or as agreed upon for training purposes.
Salary: $27,573.76 annually (per the CSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement)
Work Schedule: Follows the school schedule, 10 months per year (194 days), 6.5 hours per day.
Benefits: Health insurance (including vision and dental), New York State Retirement System, and paid leave per CSEA contract

Position Summary

The Cook Manager is responsible for the daily operation of an assigned school kitchen, ensuring the preparation and service of nutritious, high-quality meals in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. Under general supervision, the Cook Manager oversees food production, kitchen operations, inventory, sanitation, and food service staff while promoting a safe, efficient, and welcoming dining environment for students and staff.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plans, prepares, and serves nutritious meals in accordance with USDA, New York State, and District guidelines.
  • Supervises and directs the daily activities of kitchen staff.
  • Maintains accurate production records, temperature logs, inventory records, and other required documentation.
  • Ensures compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
  • Monitors food quality, portion control, and meal presentation.
  • Operates and maintains commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Schedules and assigns work to food service employees as directed.
  • Trains staff in proper food preparation, sanitation, and safety procedures.
  • Assists with menu planning and recipe preparation.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe kitchen and serving area.
  • Communicates effectively with administrators, staff, students, and vendors.
  • Orders food and supplies monthly from the School Lunch Director or as directed.
  • Attends workshops and meetings that will increase knowledge of the lunch program.
  • Maintains employees' time records
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director or District administration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must meet Civil Service requirements.
  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
  • Two Years (2) of experience in institutional, commercial, or school food service.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, nutrition, and kitchen management.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and inventories.
  • Ability to supervise, train, and work collaboratively with staff.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with food preparation, lifting supplies, and prolonged standing.
