The Camden Central School has a vacancy for the 2026-2027 school year in the following position:
Position Details
Title: Licensed Teacher AssistantLocation: Camden Elementary School - Pre-K
Start Date: September 1, 2026
Salary: $22,316.69
Work Schedule: Follows the school schedule, 10 months per year (194 days)
Benefits: Health insurance (including vision and dental), New York State Retirement System, and paid leave per CSEA
contract
Position Summary
The Teacher Assistant performs instructional support duties under the supervision of certified teaching staff and isresponsible for assisting in creating a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment for students. This position plays an important role in supporting classroom instruction, student engagement, and daily school operations. Work involves assisting with established instructional routines and procedures. Performs related duties as required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in the delivery of instructional activities and classroom routines
- Assist students in the use of instructional materials, technology, and learning resources
- Support classroom management and student behavior in alignment with school expectations
- Prepare, organize, and distribute instructional materials and classroom resources
- Support students with academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs
- Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, playground, and during transitions as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or Building Administrator
Qualifications
- New York State Teacher Assistant Certification (Level I, II, III, or Pre-Professional) or eligibility to obtain certification within ONE month of hiring.
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families
- Ability to follow directions and work under the supervision of certified staff
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Strong attendance and punctuality record
Additional Information
- Work assignments may vary by building and student needs
- Schedule and placement may be adjusted based on District requirements
- Reports to the Building Principal and classroom teacher(s)
- Performance is evaluated annually by the Building Administrator and/or designated supervisory staff
