Coming off the program’s most successful campaign, the Camden High School girls varsity softball team has brought in a large number of awards to match. The Blue Devils won their first Section III title in 2024 after several near-misses in prior years, and amassed a 20-3 overall record while playing a challenging schedule.
Head Coach Jed Musch was chosen as the Tri Valley League and All-CNY Large School Coach of the Year while piloting the Blue Devils to the top of Section III Class A. Along the way, his team also captured the top spot in the Tri-Valley League. The Blue Devils have won over 40 games in the last two years under his leadership.
Senior outfielder Brooke Musch was the Tri-Valley League and All-CNY Large School Player of the Year to go with a host of all-star selections. She was chosen as a first team all-state selection in Class A and was one of just five players from across all Section III programs to earn that distinction. She was also notched honors as a All-CNY First Team All-Star, a Section III Class A All-Star, and a Tri-Valley League First Team All-Star. A run-producing dynamo, Brooke led all of Section III this season in hits (52), runs scored (52), runs batted in (50), home runs (9) and stolen bases (48). She will continue playing at Division I UMass-Amherst this fall.
Senior pitcher Layla Killino ran up an impressive list of honors herself. In her first and only season as the varsity starting pitcher, Killino delivered a remarkable effort to keep the Blue Devils moving forward in 2024. She was named Tri-Valley League Pitcher of the Year and a second team all-state selection. She was also a Section III first team All-Star, an All-CNY first team All-Star, and a Tri-Valley League first team All-Star. She led Section III with 133 innings pitched, and ranked fourth in strikeouts across all Section III hurlers with 187. She will continue her career in the NJCAA ranks with Jefferson Community College.
Junior infielder Camryn Shenk was a Tri-Valley League first team All-Star, a Section III All-Star, and All-CNY second team All-Star. She had 30 runs scored, hit five triples to tie for second in Section III, and added 12 stolen bases.
Freshman catcher Ari Killino was a Tri-Valley League first team All-Star, and an All-CNY second team All-Star. Killino had 30 hits in her rookie season on the varsity, and scored 33 runs to stand as one of a handful of players across the section who scored 30 or more runs this season.
Junior infielder Kendall Musch was a Tri-Valley League first team All-Star, and an All-CNY second team All-Star. Musch amassed 27 hits, 25 runs scored, nine doubles, two runs, and thirteen stolen bases.
