On Monday, November 24th, our Camden CSD 3rd grade teachers hosted their Curriculum Family Night at CES.
Families rotated between stations involving reading, writing, math, mindfulness, and a picture station. Each child was also given a free book from Title I. Attendees took home resources and manipulatives to help their third graders excel at reading comprehension, math facts, writing skills and self regulation strategies.
There were also raffles, with CES students Ryelyn Young and Colton Sanborn taking home the prizes!
The event was well attended, and all had a great time!

They were so excited to share their special dish with the other first grade students!

After reading the book Balloons Over Broadway by Melissa Sweet and learning about the history of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, 4th grade students at Camden Elementary held their own parade right in the library! Students created their own balloons, attached them to Ozobot robots and cheered on as they watched their balloons sail by.

It consists of a monthly one-hour block of play-based learning and socialization with parent/guardian involvement. It is offered with the aim of progressing into the “Look at Me, I’m Three!” program for the following year, and creating a two year skill development on-ramp into Pre-K programming.
To be eligible for this program, a student must reside in the Camden Central School District, and be two years old, or reach that age on or before December 1st, 2025.
Participation for this first meeting will be limited to 15 children, and will be on a first-contact, first-serve basis. Additionally, choice of date will operate on the same basis. RSVPs are required each month. On Wednesday, Camden Elementary and McConnellsville Elementary welcomed celebrated children's author (and Utica, NY native) Daryl Cobb for a visit! Students in grades K-4 were treated to his message that included the love of reading and writing. He even recruited some teachers and students to participate in his engaging, informative, and entertaining presentation!

This annual event gathers the CES community for hours of family activities, books, and refreshments. Among the highlights are the carnival games set up by teachers. Classics such as “Pin the Spider on the Web” and “Pumpkin Ring Toss” were joined by new additions like “The Human Slot Machine”. Craft activities included “Lollipop Ghosts”, a stress ball making station, and leaf rubbings with Connected Community Schools. Students also left with free books from the Title I initiative, and could also browse and purchase additional books from the Scholastic Book Fair.
Due to some dynamic weather throughout the day, this year’s event was held indoors, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of those in attendance!
