CAMDEN, NY - 41 student musicians and four teachers from the Camden Central School District took the opportunity to challenge themselves while representing the District at the Madison County Music Educators’ Association Winter All-County Festival. This year’s Winter Festival was held on Friday, January 17th, and Saturday, January 18th at Oneida High School.
The MCMEA All-County Festivals provide a venue for the best and brightest student musicians from Madison County and Western Oneida County to collaborate, rehearse, and perform together. Musicians are selected via a comprehensive and competitive audition process that requires students to prepare a solo piece, and perform sight reading exercises or scales in front of an adjudicator. They are expected to complete their own preparations ahead of the festival, with very limited rehearsal time available.
Across the ensembles for this festival, 373 talented students were chosen to represent 13 school districts from the MCMEA Membership. Member schools include: Brookfield, Camden, Canastota, Cazenovia, Chittenango, DeRuyter, Hamilton, Holy Cross Academy, Madison, Morrisville-Eaton, Oneida, Stockbridge Valley, and Vernon Verona Sherrill.
