6th grade English Language Arts students in Mrs. Gilsenan's classes embarked on an exciting and educational project that combined their love for food with their growing knowledge of grammar. The result? A creative and delicious venture called "Grammar Grub" — a food truck restaurant where every item on their custom made menus not only tantalizes the taste buds but also showcased various parts of speech!

Today students from Mr. Janes (3rd grade CES), Mrs. Lapier (6th grade CMS), Mrs. Wilcox (6th grade CMS), Mrs. Turner's (7th grade CMS) classes participated in their fish release in Mad River behind CMS. This year the classes celebrated their 10th year working with the Fish Creek Atlantic Salmon Club and Tug Hill/Black River Chapter of Trout Unlimited to raise Atlantic Salmon and Brook Trout in class! Each year the clubs provide funding, equipment and learning opportunities to support classroom curriculum. Students worked cooperatively with club volunteers today and learned more about the fish, their surrounding environment, and restoration efforts. Students also rotated through educational stations learning about effects of overfishing, macroinvertebrates and stream health, and learned more about fish pathology via the Rome Fish Hatchery. As always, the experience was a memorable one for our students and staff alike. Special thanks to Paul Miller and all the volunteers with the Fish Creek Atlantic Salmon Club and Tug Hill/Black River Chapter of Trout Unlimited!

On Friday, Camden Middle School hosted representatives from the Essential Elements Schools to Watch program for an initial designation ceremony. The school community was presented with their initial designation banner, and the Camden community had a few surprises for our students as well! To celebrate, each student received a commemorative t-shirt designed by student Kenleigh VanWinkle and provided through the generosity of Mystic Stamp and the Sundman Family. There were also cupcakes in classrooms compliments of our local Tops store. This is a significant milestone, but it is as much a new beginning as it is a culmination. Schools can re-apply to keep their designation every three years, and staff and students will be striving to uphold the standard they've created in the years ahead.

You should come to the CMS Play, "Miss Nelson is Missing" if you didn't come last night. With a full auditorium, maybe we can convince our villainous substitute teacher character, Viola Swamp, to let her Room 207 students out for recess. She didn't feel like it on opening night, that's for sure. 6:30. Free Admission. Come support our students!
