Mrs. Judy Dacey invited Ms. Heather Wieland to be a guest speaker in her MVCC Marketing class at Camden High School.
Ms. Wieland was eager to share information about the Business to Business acquisition of Promethean boards, which corresponded with their class unit on the Business to Business process.
She was able to cover the B2B buying process: Need Recognition, Product Specifications, Request for Purchase, Proposal Analysis Vendor Negotiation, and selection, Order Specifications, and Vendor Performance assessment for district Promethean boards.
Ms. Wieland discussed how she attended a NYSCATE conference on behalf of the district and was asked by Mr. Evangelist, Assistant Superintendent of Instruction to see if Ms. Wieland can get information about interactive and versatile instructional boards for teachers.
There was a committee, including districtwide teachers, who attended sales presentations from three vendors. Promethean was the business that the committee approved to be acquired for CCSD classrooms.
Ms. Wieland discussed how they used a shared document and rating system to vote on various equipment needs/wants/likes/dislikes/affordability/compatibility/ease of use/customer service after purchase/training for how to use the equipment and more- based on the committee members' input.
She was able to teach about this process in a personable way and make a connection with students as they learned more about how technology gets into their classrooms.
