Yesterday, Camden Middle School hosted all kinds of celebrities, dignitaries, inventors, authors, and athletes.... Well, sort of! Sixth grade students took a biography project to the next level by hosting a living wax museum. Each student had the chance to portray a notable person from the past or present, and offer information to others in attendance about their chosen individual!
On Wednesday, March 29th, students from Camden Middle School, Camden Elementary School, and McConnellsville Elementary School joined our Connected Community Schools team for "Minute to Win It" Game Night! Based on the popular series, students had the opportunity to navigate several mind-bending challenges designed to test their perseverance and problem-solving skills!

Students are rolling up their sleeves preparing to learn about Maple production in New York State within the agriculture elective. Mrs.Willson provided a delicious snack as well as loads of information regarding the Maple Industry!
How does the agriculture classroom bring positive morale into students lives? Example A: A student in the agriculture elective stated her interest in bring in her pet chicken to educate the class on poultry production. Today that student created an engaging lesson for the class about her chicken and the poultry industry! Learning from a teacher is one thing but students teaching each other is even more impactful!
"Chick-out" what's happening in the agriculture classroom today! Today we had a visit from Oneida County CCE to learn about a chicks life cycle. The reasoning behind todays lesson was to prepare the agricultural elective students for the weeks ahead. Students in the agricultural elective will be hatching chicks for the next 3 weeks in the agriculture classroom.
Don't you love when a plan comes together through collaboration? Mrs Bloomquist’s 5th grade School Library Skills Class at Camden Middle School did exactly that! The group colored Collaboration Squares that were connected together to form a new, larger picture! These works of art are a great example of what can happen when the school community works together! Three spectacular Camden Agriculture students put their skills to the test in a mock competition. Lauren Clifford spoke the FFA Creed. Mary Hall competed in the poster contest for People In Agriculture. Justin Melnick gave an extemporaneous speech on the agriculture industry. Great job! We look forward to chartering a Camden FFA chapter in the near future.
Chick Week has come to an end folks! The last day was filled with activities that are incorporated with the Poultry Evaluation FFA CDE! Students learned how to grade eggs, grade poultry meat, and identify meat cuts! This was another wonderful week in the agriculture room!
Chick Week continues..... Today students learned about Embryology of a Chick! After learning the 21 stages of chick development students had hands on time with the chicks. Some students learned that chicks also "poop." It is all about learning moments in the agriculture classroom!

Within the agriculture elective called "Agriculture Explorations" students are able to complete and learn from projects that interest them. One student is learning about ecosystems. This student finally had the chance to put live worms in his ecosystem thanks to Mrs. Wilson's worm bin! Come to find out this student was scared to death of worms. This student got over his fear by being pushed out of his comfort zone and now is able to watch the live creatures work in his live terrarium!
For "Chick Week" the agriculture program wants to make sure everyone is involved including our other furry friends. Jelly the classroom Guinea Pig made a pit stop at the main office today to spread chick love in her chick costume! Jelly brought loads of laughter and smiles into the main office!

Mrs. Johnson's fifth-grade reading class made a leprechaun and a rainbow-filled pot of gold! Happy St. Patrick's Day!
What is yellow or orange and has 100 petals? MARIGOLDS! Students in the agricultural elective learned the history and uses of marigolds today. Students even had the opportunity to grow their own marigolds to hopefully take home later in the year!
The mandatory spring sports information meeting for players and their parents/guardians will take place tonight, Thursday, March 16th, at 6:00 PM in the Camden High School Auditorium. This meeting will consist of information and expectations for the 2023 Spring season, as well as a presentation from guest speaker Chris Sargent.
