Given that it's Princess and Hero day at CES, it's only fitting that the school community found a way to get Mr. Ferretti his own crown. He has been dubbed the GOAT of Camden Elementary, complete with a crown from Ms. Levensailor!

On Thursday, Camden Elementary School held a pep rally with the CHS Cheerleaders, and many of our fall sports athletes! The event builds school spirit while also developing leadership skills. It also gives our younger students some positive role models that are still in school, just like them! In addition, the athletes were able to explain a bit about what's important in their sport, which may inspire a few students in the room to take those sports up later on! The CES Student Council was at the front of the room to help lead the students in all of the cheering alongside our CHS Cheerleaders!

CES Second Graders started the week with their first agriculture lesson of the year on apples. They learned all about the life cycle of an apple, the parts of an apple, and pollination. All that learning about food can work up an appetite, so as you might expect, a snack was part of the fun!

Today, October 2nd, is National Custodian Day. Let's take a moment to recognize the hard work our dedicated facilities team does every day to ensure our students and staff have a clean and safe place to do their daily activities. Across the entire facilities team, they do nearly 70,000 combined hours of work annually to keep our buildings clean, our grass cut, and a variety of physical plant items in working order.

Mrs. Ammann's class at Camden Elementary School experienced a fresh taste of Fall without leaving their classroom on Friday! Her kindergarteners learned about the different varieties of New York's official state fruit with a tasting of red, green, and yellow apples. Then, they learned about how the crop can be made into a finished product by making homemade applesauce with cinnamon!

The Syracuse Museum of Science and Technology (MoST) is sponsoring a series of STEM challenges throughout this school year, and Camden CSD students from grades 4-12 have been invited to participate. Registration is free, and materials are provided by the MoST for each challenge. The museum is hosting a bridge building challenge on Saturday, November 9th from 9 AM to Noon on its campus in downtown Syracuse. Students will compete to build bridges that are as strong as possible, while also being as lightweight as possible. There are two divisions: A junior division for Grades 4-8, and a senior division for Grades 9-12. Teams can be from 1 to 4 students. Students would need to register online, and then make arrangements to get their materials from the museum. Opportunities to set up a support session with the MoST staff are available by appointment, and there is a walk-in session scheduled for tomorrow, 9/28, from 9:30 to 12:30 at the MoST. More information about the contest is available here: https://www.most.org/learn/stem-challenges/
