RISE AND SHINE, BLUE DEVILS! It's going to be a great day today! Here is your schedule for Homecoming 2024!
This was certainly one of the more detailed PepFest skits we saw today. They made sure to pick up the spare, and also added in the Wii Sports Bowling Music for good measure!
On Monday, October 7th, the Camden Field Hockey programs will be hosting a dedication game on behalf of Morgan's Message. Morgan's Message is a non-profit that strives to destigmatize mental health challenges within the student athlete community, all the while demonstrating that mental health is equally important to physical health among student-athletes.
In support of this cause, a new club has formed at Camden High School, and field hockey student-athlete Ryen Lago will be our Student Ambassador for this event.
Dean's Concessions will be on hand to serve food, and they will be donating some of their proceeds to the organization. There will also be a table set up to hand out information about Morgan's Message during the event.
JV and Modified will take the field at 4:30, and Varsity will follow at 6.
If you have any questions about this event, reach out to Michelle Mellon at (mmellon@camdencsd.org).
Today, we learned that Varsity Field Hockey has a hidden talent for Musical Chairs. To say the competition got intense..... wouldn't really do it justice.
Whether it was human bowling, musical chairs, a makeshift rodeo, tug of war, football game, or a 4x100 meter track relay featuring pepperoni in place of your everyday aluminum baton, our student-athletes certainly made PepFest 2024 memorable with some great skits!
The afternoon also featured performances by the CHS Cheerleaders and CHS Choir, along with the unveiling of the senior superlatives to the student body. Let's go Blue!
Whether it was Princess/Hero day, or Blue and White Day, or some combination of both, our students brought the ENERGY on Friday!
It's a Bird.... it's a Plane.... Actually, it's the varsity boys' soccer team during spirit week! They'll look to come out flying in their next match at Oneida on Tuesday!
On Wednesday, Mrs. Libertella and Miss McCarthy took a small group of students on a citizen science field trip! They visited the Fenner Renewable Education Center in Cazenovia, along with Chittenango Falls!
Got Blue? Got White? Got Spirit? Why not all three!?!?!?!?
Also, check out Mr. Zalepeski's tie! That's awesome!
The Camden Varsity Cross Country program recognized its eight seniors ahead of Wednesday's home meet at the Osceola Ski and Sport Resort. Congratulations to the following members of the Camden XC Class of 2025: Ari Levin, Elijah Jackson, Billy Bernabe, Jacob Lago, Jayden Osborne, Dylan Poole, Urion Conley, and Xander Seymour!
We're looking forward to a great day of homecoming events on Saturday!
DDP students in Mr. Petrie's class were locked in on Tuesday as they participated in the "Compression Challenge". With only 3 sheets of paper and limited amounts of masking tape, students were tasked with constructing the strongest 3" x 3" x 3" structure to hold as many textbooks as possible. Evan Gonzalez and Gavyn Hatzinger had the best score of the day at 26 textbooks (or 78 lbs.) with many following close behind. The school record, set in 2022 by Abigail Arnold, still stands at a staggering 36 textbooks (108 lbs.). Great job everyone!
October is Youth Substance Use Prevention Month
It is October 3rd. So it's only fitting that today's theme was to wear pink this year, and the CHS Social Studies department was happy to oblige. The only downside was that it didn't fall on a Wednesday this year, but we're rolling with it.
Fun Fact: This is the 21st occurrence of October 3rd since the movie referenced here, Mean Girls, was released in April of 2004.
By the way, if you addressed four candy grams to Glen Coco, we're sorry to report that he is.... not here.
Attention Blue Devils of All Ages!
Have you ever wanted to see an Apache AH-64 Helicopter from the United States Army up close? Perhaps you’d like to meet its pilots and ask a few questions. Well, you can do exactly that on Homecoming Saturday, October 5th!
The 10th Mountain Division, 6th Squadron, 6th Calvary Regiment will be hosting an on-site helicopter display at Camden High School prior to the evening’s football game against Central Valley Academy.
The helicopter will be landing at CHS at 5 PM, with the designated landing zone currently scheduled for the outfield of the Camden High School front softball field. You’ll have the opportunity for a meet and greet with the pilots of this remarkable machine, and an opportunity to take photos with it if you’d like.
The helicopter will be departing Camden High School at approximately 6:15 PM. Foot traffic on the premises in the immediate vicinity of the landing zone may be briefly restricted during the arrival and departure time periods to ensure a safe and secure arrival and departure.
It's no secret. To get the most out of all that school has to offer, you have to be here. #CCSDAttendanceAwarenessMonth
The CHS Social Studies department took today's "Partners In Crime" Spirit Week theme to new heist....
We mean, heights!
Surely, one of those Superheroes from yesterday, that look suspiciously just like them, will be able to stop them. Right?
Last night was Senior Night for the Camden Girls Varsity Soccer Class of 2025! Before their match against Canastota, the Blue Devils recognized seniors Ellie Hite, Samantha Barrett, Katie Phelps, Olivia Hooker for their contributions to the program.
While the Blue Devils fell 1-0, it wasn't for any lack of a fantastic soccer match. Goalkeeper Oliviana Christmas stopped 12 of 13 for Camden, and the Blue Devils forced Canastota keeper Mackenzi Stevens to make 12 saves at her end of the field to stay ahead.
Camden will be at VVS on Thursday night.
Today, October 2nd, is National Custodian Day. Let's take a moment to recognize the hard work our dedicated facilities team does every day to ensure our students and staff have a clean and safe place to do their daily activities. Across the entire facilities team, they do nearly 70,000 combined hours of work annually to keep our buildings clean, our grass cut, and a variety of physical plant items in working order.
Happy Spirit Week Tuesday from the CHS Social Studies Team! Today is Superhero Day at CHS!
