LEGAL NOTICE FOR PUBLIC HEARING AND FOR VOTE ON THE 2023-2024 SCHOOL BUDGET, AND ELECTION OF MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE CAMDEN CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
NOTICE IS GIVEN that the Board of Education shall conduct a Public Hearing for the inhabitants of the Camden Central School District, at the Camden Central High School Tuthill Learning Commons on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, commencing at 7:00 p.m. for the purpose of presenting the Budget therefore for the fiscal year 2023-2024 to be voted on May 16, 2023 in accordance with the Education law.
NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes may be obtained by any taxpayer at each school building in the District during the 21 days immediately preceding the Annual Meeting (Budget/Trustee Vote), except Saturday, Sunday or holidays, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that pursuant to Resolutions adopted by the Board of Education of the District, a regular meeting of qualified voters of said School District will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Camden Central High School Room 302 Lobby by voting machine between the hours of 12:00 noon and 9:00 p.m.. Such meeting shall be held for the purpose of voting upon the matters hereinafter set forth:
- To vote upon the Board adopted Budget for the 2023-2024 school year, which shall appear as Proposition No. 1 on the voting machines.
- To vote on the election of Board of Education members as follows:
Elect FOUR (4) members to the Board of Education of the Camden Central School District for “at-large” vacancies as follows:
Three (3) – 3 –year term ending June 30, 2026, presently held by Katherine Stone, Thomas Fanning, and Misty Portner until June 30, 2023
One (1) – 1 –year term ending June 30, 2024, presently vacant
Positions are “at-large” positions; therefore the nominating petitions shall not describe any specific vacancy on the Board. The three candidates that receive the greatest number of votes will fill the 3 seats whose terms end June 30, 2026. The candidate that receives the fourth greatest number of votes will fill the 1 seat whose term ends June 30, 2024.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that qualified voters may obtain applications for absentee ballots from the office of the Clerk of the School District. Completed applications for absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk of the School District no later than 5:00 P.M. prevailing time, on May 16, 2023, and must be received no later than 5:00 P.M., prevailing time, on May 10, 2023 if the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the voter.
Completed applications received after 5:00 P.M. on May 10, 2023, will require the voter to personally appear at the Office of the Clerk of the School District to receive an absentee ballot. A listing of all persons to whom an absentee ballot is issued will be available for inspection by any qualified voter during regular business hours in the Office of the Clerk of the School District through May 16, 2023.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that military voters who are qualified voters of the School District may apply for a military ballot by requesting an application from the District Clerk at 315-245-1024 or kkeil@camdencsd.org. For a military voter to be issued a military ballot, the District Clerk must have received a valid ballot application no later than 5:00 pm on April 21, 2023. In a request for a military ballot application or ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application or ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail.
