Fifth graders from Camden Middle School recently honed their acting and filmmaking skills to promote an activity they love on a statewide stage. Under the guidance of Dr. Tara Baker, students worked in groups to develop and create a brief video highlighting the theme “The Inclusive Nature of Literacy” for this year’s New York State Reading Association Annual Conference.
The students decided that they wanted to feature their independent reading time, which they do at the start of each class with Baker. The project was student-driven from start to finish, with students selecting the books they would feature based on what they read during the school year, writing a script, and making the video itself.
Students starring in the video included Avery Croniser, Christina Dean, and Annabelle Mitkin.
The NYSRA will hold its annual conference from November 10th to 12th .
