Transportation Update

In advance of the upcoming school year, the Camden Central School District Transportation Department would like to offer the following information about its operations for the upcoming school year, with a special emphasis on pick-up and drop-off procedures. 

As the Summer continues, it is a great time to plan for your child’s transportation needs for the 2024-25 school year, especially if your plans have changed. Ensuring we have correct and concise information is vitally important to our goal of transporting each child in a safe and efficient manner. In that spirit, the Transportation Department requests the following from all District families.

1. Please have any permanent student transportation changes for the start of the school year (Pick Up/Drop Off locations) submitted to the District Office by Monday, August 19th, 2024. Changes can be submitted to District Registrar Rachel Archibee at rarchibee@camdencsd.org. In the event a permanent change is needed during the school year, please advise the Registrar’s office 48 hours in advance. This 48 hour period is used to make a decision on our capability to accommodate the request, and to notify all affected parties.

2. To improve efficiency and maintain consistency in routing, the District is requesting that families use as few permanent pick-up and drop-off locations as possible for their students. The District strongly recommends no more than two permanent drop-off and pick-up locations, one of which should be a student’s listed home address. We understand that for some families, this may not be possible. If you have more than two permanent pick up/drop off locations for your child, or a different situation that may not fit the District’s recommendations, please call the transportation department at (315) 245-0878 to discuss your options.

3. If you need a temporary transportation change, the parent must give the student a note to be approved by their home school. The note should include their name, address they are going to, and the contact phone number of the person at that address. Please indicate clearly the change, and the reason for the change, along with your phone number to confirm details. If approved, the note will be given to the bus driver on that day. Bus drivers are not allowed to accept notes that were not approved by the home school, and a change will not be honored without one. Notes are only valid for a one day change.
