Camden Bowling

On Saturday Dec 7th, the Camden High School boys’ varsity bowling team hosted their annual Holiday Bakers Tournament at Lucky Shots Bowling Center in Camden. The Blue Devils claimed the top spot in this year’s tournament with a high score of 2,751.

Camden’s entry defeated nine other squads, including many of the Section’s most notable programs. Entries from East Syracuse Minoa, Cicero North Syracuse, Rome Free Academy, New Hartford, Sherburne-Earlville, Watertown, and Liverpool came to compete.

The tournament was conducted under the unique and exciting Baker Format. As opposed to players bowling a complete game, the Baker format consists of five player teams, and each player bowls two frames within each game. The teams play 15 games, broken into three five game sets. After each set, the teams rotate lanes and continue.

In the first five game set, CNS set the pace. The Northstars rolled a five game total of 921. They were followed closely by the ESM “A” team with a score of 912, and Camden stood third with a total of 869.

The Blue Devils made a huge move in the second set with a score of 911 to lead all squads in that block of games, good for a two-set score of 1780. The ESM “A” team continued to be consistent with a 905 effort, and the RFA “A” team and New Hartford each bowled an 892 in the middle stanza.

Camden closed with its best series of the day, but it wasn’t always easy. The Blue Devils stumbled in their first game with a score of 137, but picked up their game to roll games of 193, 218, 221, and 202 to shoot a closing score of 971. ESM closed with a 925 series, and New Hartford carded a 938, but the Blue Devils were able to pull ahead and claim the title.

Behind Camden’s 2,751 score, ESM scored a 2,742 to take second, and New Hartford’s 2,665 was good enough for third.

The Blue Devils would like to thank all participating teams, and the Lucky Shots Bowling Center for hosting an outstanding event.
