Look at Me, I'm Three Program

On Wednesday, January 15th, the Camden Central School District’s “Look at Me, I’m Three” program held its monthly meeting at Camden Elementary School. An impressive 26 children and their families attended.

The “Look at Me, I’m Three” program is a program designed for students who will reach Pre-Kindergarten age for the next school year. The objectives include establishing social skills, laying the foundation for reading competency, building relationships with other families and school staff, and acclimating incoming students to being in a classroom setting each day ahead of starting a Pre-Kindergarten program.

The group learning environment can also assist families and school staff in identifying any potential child development hurdles that may not be evident at home as the cohort approaches school age.

A typical session features a story, a craft activity, a mindfulness activity, and a snack. Other opportunities include the ability to sign up for the free, nationally-recognized Dolly Parton's Imagination Library program, which gives a free monthly book to children up to age 5.

January’s meeting featured snow-themed activities. There was a winter mindfulness activity, a reading of “The Biggest Snowball Fight” by Angel Shelf, and a snowman “snowball launcher” craft. The students had an opportunity to get active with an indoor “snowball fight”, and also sang and danced to childhood favorites “The Goldfish”, by Laurie Berkner, and “Tooty Ta” by Dr. Jean.

This group is well on its way to being ready for Pre-K, and they would love to see even more new faces next month! To be eligible, a child must have reached their third birthday on or before December 1st, 2024, which would place them as Pre-K eligible for the upcoming year. Details on the February meeting are coming soon.
