CAMDEN, NY - Elementary students in the Camden Central School District had opportunities for hands-on learning about Fire Safety as part of National Fire Prevention Week.
National Fire Prevention Week runs from October 9th to October 15th across America. Fire departments and other fire service organizations take the opportunity to remind students and families about fire prevention, and what to do if a fire occurs.
On Thursday, October 13th, Mrs. Zoldi and Mrs. Migliori brought their pre-kindergarten students from McConnellsville Elementary School on a field trip to the Camden Fire Department. The students had the opportunity to tour the fire station, learn about the trucks and equipment, and learned a lot about the challenges and rewards of being in the fire service.
McConnellsville also received a visit from the McConnellsville Fire Department on Friday! Students were invited to come see the trucks up close in the front circle of the school's campus.
On Friday, October 14th, the Camden Fire Department also brought the fun to students. They visited Camden Elementary to meet with students about fire safety in the school's gymnasium. The assembly featured demonstrations of various equipment and techniques, and an appearance by the department's dalmatian mascot.
We would like to thank the Camden Fire Department and McConnellsville Fire Department, along with all other local fire service agencies, for working to keep us safe each day. We greatly appreciate their time and effort in educating our youth about fire safety.
