On Tuesday, December 13th, Camden Middle School was transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. With the help of Connected Community Schools, Center For Family Life and Recovery (CFLR), National Junior Honor Society members and teacher volunteers, the main foyer, staircase and hallway were decorated with candy canes, garland and snowflakes. Families were invited to come for free pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus, crafts, cookie decorating, hot chocolate, popcorn and a movie!
The CMS National Junior Honor Society members assisted with a snowflake making station with their advisors, Nate and Kate Donaleski.
Teachers Sarah Falanga, Tara Baker, Heidi Turner and Debbie Smith volunteered their time and resources to make bookmarks, painted ornaments and scratch ornaments while Jodi Steria assisted with the large games that students were able to play.
CFLR representatives Lesley Blaul and Ambur Kowalski provided resources to families and a Christmas tree craft.
Reading Teacher and Title I Department Chair Heather Johnson handed out free books to every student that visited with Santa.
She had books for children from birth through 12th grade.
Connected Community Schools Project Manager Valarie Mudrie assisted with pictures with Santa so that all family members, including parents and guardians could be part of the pictures!
Social worker Kate Frymoyer and attendance secretary Emillee Austin ran a sugar cookie decorating station that provided everyone with a tasty treat!
Cookies were donated by Flower Power Bakery and were also baked by Mrs. Beth Eberly’s 7th and 8th grade students in the CMS baking elective class.
Camden’s Dunkin Donuts location graciously donated hot chocolate and coffee. Connected Community Schools Site Coordinators Kim Pirrone, Tayler Galusha and Cole Brown served the warm drinks and popcorn to all families. There was also a movie available to watch in the auditorium.
It was a wonderful evening of winter and holiday fun, and Camden Middle School looks forward to making it an annual event for our students and the Camden Community!
