Here they are.... your incoming fifth grade students at Camden Middle School! 130 students participated in our second session of the CMS "Movin On Up!" orientation program! Attendees were treated to an action-packed two day program that was created to prepare them for life at the Middle School in a relaxed, informal setting. They had plenty of chances to learn about their classmates, school staff, and the building they'll call home for the next four years! The Summer of 2022 marked the program's debut, and Principal Brittany DerCola noticed a significant improvement in student readiness after that initial run. "Last year we saw that students were a lot more comfortable coming in on the first day," DerCola said. "They recognized their teachers and knew which students were in their first period class, so it helped them find their way much more quickly. Giving them time to connect with their classmates during the orientation also gets a lot of the early socializing and silliness out of the way so that when the school year starts we can get right to business!" This offering is made possible in part through assistance from the LEAP Summer Enrichment program at Madison-Oneida BOCES. LEAP also helps administer other summer programming in the District, including Camp-Sum-More-Fun, Brain Gain, and Kindergarten Boot Camp!

Connected Community Schools is hosting a "Touch a Truck" night THIS EVENING, Wednesday, August 30th! "Touch a Truck" is an opportunity for children and families to come and see a wide variety of service vehicles up close. Your student can sit inside of a fire truck, police car, construction vehicle, etc. while learning more about the people who make vitally important services happen for our community every day. Contact site coordinator Cole Brown for more information. By the way.... follow Connected Community Schools on Facebook if you haven't already! The organization recently surpassed 7,000 followers! They post lots of pictures from their events across the region, including here in Camden. It's also a great place to learn about upcoming Connected Schools events in the area, including combined events held between districts!

Our CMS Agriculture program is growing! Many of you know about the greenhouse project we're working on (and we are excited to show you!), but did you know we are also starting an FFA Chapter? That's right. The FFA is coming to Camden this year! A few of our charter FFA members recently went to the New York State Fair to observe multiple FFA competitions. Mary, Matt, and Kayla will hopefully compete in the poultry evaluation CDE at the fair next year. Students also saw the miracle of life at the dairy birthing center along with several other livestock shows. More information about how your student can participate in FFA is coming soon!

Good Morning Blue Devils Athletes and Families! This is a friendly reminder that the Athletic Department will host a mandatory Player, Parent/Guardian information meeting tonight, Thursday, August 24th, at 6:00 PM in the Camden High School Auditorium. This meeting will start with guest speaker Rocky Corigliano, followed by Athletic Department expectations. The night will conclude with coaches hosting their team meetings to review team policies, expectations, and other valuable information.
