Last week in art class at McConnellsville with Miss Lis, kindergarteners finished up their spiders full of lines! Students learned the "Line Song," that teaches students what a horizontal, vertical and diagonal line look like.
You can find these spiders crawling in the hallways of McConnellsville! If you come to visit for the Spooktacular on October 16th, or for something else, make sure you don't squish any! They're friendly!
October's character goal at McConnellsville is to be a SELF-DIRECTED learner! The student council is making daily announcements to help students learn and understand what that means, and they've also continued their campaign by making hallway posters!
Congratulations to the girls' varsity tennis team on a 3-2 win in the quarterfinal round of Section III Team Tournament play on Monday! The Blue Devils got a long-awaited win by defeating the team that eliminated them last year, South Jefferson.
The Blue Devils got the edge in the match through a win at second singles by Lainie Liberatore, and victories from both doubles pairings. Abigail Arnold and Alexis Albrecht won at first doubles 6-3, 6-3, and Dolmae Honrales and Rylee Greggains secured perhaps the match's most pivotal victory with a three set win at second doubles.
Camden, the fourth seed in the tournament, is back at it today for the semifinals against top-seeded Oneida. The match will start at 3:30 at Oneida High School.
Attendance matters. #CCSDAttendanceAwarenessMonth
The Camden CSD Board of Education will hold its scheduled October meeting this evening, Tuesday, October 8th. It will be held at 6 PM in the CHS Tuthill Learning Commons (Library)
Last night was an important one at the CHS Stadium as the Blue Devil Field Hockey programs hosted Morgan's Message Night! The evening raised funds and awareness for the Morgan's Message organization and its advocacy efforts for student-athlete mental health.
All three Camden Field Hockey teams were in action.
Before the varsity game, our Morgan's Message Student-Athlete Ambassador, Ryen Lago, gave a brief speech about what the cause means to her before her squad took on RFA. With the help of Camden High School Social Worker Michelle Mellon, Lago has founded a Morgan's Message club at CHS with the aim of continuing to support this important work.
A special thank you to all who attended, as well as to Dean's Concessions, Two Broke Besties, and Olive Grove Gathering Co. for coming on board to support the cause!
While the score wasn't what we wanted, getting to gather as a community was its own victory.

Morgan's Message Night with Camden Field Hockey is a go! The Blue Devils are taking their shot at Student-Athlete mental health to raise awareness and raise money for the Morgan's Message Organization! JV and Modified will start soon, and Varsity is set for 6 PM!
Dean's Concessions is on site, with a portion of proceeds to benefit the organization. There is also an information table with raffle opportunities and opportunities to learn more about the work that Morgan's Message does.
Come on down! Girls Varsity Tennis is also in action in their Section III Quarterfinal match!
Prior to this school year, the Camden Central School District hired a new agriculture educator, Ms. Erin Curtis, to teach high school level classes and advise that building’s FFA chapter. Since the beginning of the school year, she has hit the ground running while keeping her students moving forward through various events.
The group started the year with a trip to SUNY Cobleskill’s “High School Days” where FFA members competed in various agricultural career events such as the K-9 and Tree ID competition. Students also spent time touring the beautiful campus known for its agriculture programs. Coincidentally, it’s also where Ms. Curtis received her degree!
In October, the high school FFA members were fortunate to meet with the New York State FFA Officers at Tim’s Pumpkin Patch, a popular autumn agritourism destination just outside of Syracuse. The membership had the opportunity to speak 1-on-1 with the organization’s leaders in the state, and in the process, they left empowered and motivated to become the best version of themselves while elevating the FFA chapter and the Camden community.
High school FFA officers also attended COLT this Fall. The COLT (Chapter Officer Leadership Training) program is hosted by Cornell University and the NYS FFA Organization. The officers participated in leadership workshops to grow personally for the betterment of their chapter.
Congratulations to the following Camden High School students on their selection to the 2024 Camden Homecoming Court!

There's still plenty of opportunity to sign your child (Birth up to Age 5) up for the free Dolly Parton's Imagination Library program!

Our school bus wasn't the only bus to appear in Saturday's parade!
The Camden Alumni Soccer game is certainly an exciting homecoming tradition, and one we're proud to see continue for 2024! Over 30 CHS Soccer Alumni laced up their best soccer boots and came out to re-live their high school soccer glory in the company of friends and family!
Prior to Saturday's game, we had the good fortune to welcome a terrific group of soldiers from the United States Army 10th Mountain Division for a public exhibition of one of their Apache helicopters! It's safe to say that our students, staff, and community loved the chance to see one of these incredible machines up close.
A special thank you to the the 10th Mountain Division, 6th Squadron, 6th Calvary Regiment for spending some time with us, and to the Rome Recruiting Station for helping to set this up.
What's scarier: The monster in the jeep, or the price of a new engine these days? You decide.
The Girls' Varsity Tennis team will host a Section III Team Tournament quarterfinal on Monday! Come see the Blue Devils as they battle South Jefferson!
On Monday, October 7th, the Camden Field Hockey programs will be hosting a dedication game on behalf of Morgan's Message. Morgan's Message is a non-profit that strives to destigmatize mental health challenges within the student athlete community, all the while demonstrating that mental health is equally important to physical health among student-athletes.
In support of this cause, a new club has formed at Camden High School, and field hockey student-athlete Ryen Lago will be our Student Ambassador for this event.
Dean's Concessions will be on hand to serve food, and they will be donating some of their proceeds to the organization. There will also be a table set up to hand out information about Morgan's Message during the event.
JV and Modified will take the field at 4:30, and Varsity will follow at 6.
If you have any questions about this event, reach out to Michelle Mellon at (mmellon@camdencsd.org).
No word on whether or not the hats were purchased, or if they came out of a rocket-shaped claw game at Pizza Planet, but they are most certainly outstanding!
Ducks Fly Together! What a float!
Speaking of things that fly, come see the Apache Helicopter parked at the High School! It is on display until 6:15!
One of the great mysteries of the Homecoming Parade: What will Mr. Bird do in front of the cameras this year?
And here...... is your answer.
Hopefully, that magic will help the Blue Devils in playing their best on Monday as they host a Section III Team Tournament Quarterfinal match at the CHS Tennis Courts!
