It's Homecoming Week, so we thought we'd wind back the clock 20 years to Homecoming 2004! Does anyone you see in this parade look familiar? A very special thank you goes to retired Media Specialist Christine Bishop, who sent these in along with a bunch of other CCSD goodies on some old CDs and DVDs awhile back. We haven't had a ton of time to go through it all yet, but today seemed like a good time to start!

(7 PM on Friday, 11/1) and (2 PM and 7:30 PM on Saturday 11/2). The CMS Musical is also coming up, and will be held on November 14th and 15th!

Mrs. Ammann's class at Camden Elementary School experienced a fresh taste of Fall without leaving their classroom on Friday! Her kindergarteners learned about the different varieties of New York's official state fruit with a tasting of red, green, and yellow apples. Then, they learned about how the crop can be made into a finished product by making homemade applesauce with cinnamon!

Happy Spirit Week from the CHS Social Studies department! Today's theme at CHS? Adam Sandler day! You're sure to see lots of Happy Gilmore, Bobby Boucher, and Billy Madison today around the building. If you see Mr. Deeds around, please give them a high five for making an especially great costume choice today. Tomorrow will be Superhero day at the High School. In advance, please let us know if you see Clark Kent and Superman in the same room at the same time at CHS, because that would be big news in Metropolis.

The Syracuse Museum of Science and Technology (MoST) is sponsoring a series of STEM challenges throughout this school year, and Camden CSD students from grades 4-12 have been invited to participate. Registration is free, and materials are provided by the MoST for each challenge. The museum is hosting a bridge building challenge on Saturday, November 9th from 9 AM to Noon on its campus in downtown Syracuse. Students will compete to build bridges that are as strong as possible, while also being as lightweight as possible. There are two divisions: A junior division for Grades 4-8, and a senior division for Grades 9-12. Teams can be from 1 to 4 students. Students would need to register online, and then make arrangements to get their materials from the museum. Opportunities to set up a support session with the MoST staff are available by appointment, and there is a walk-in session scheduled for tomorrow, 9/28, from 9:30 to 12:30 at the MoST. More information about the contest is available here: https://www.most.org/learn/stem-challenges/

BLUE DEVIL NEW STAFF SPOTLIGHT In the coming weeks, we’ll introduce you to members of our Blue Devil family who are new, or are changing roles between buildings for the school year. Today, we’ll tell you about new McConnellsville kindergarten teacher Patricia Pennise! Patricia joins us from the St. Patrick’s School in Oneida, where she taught multiple grade levels over a 10 year period. She is a graduate of SUNY Potsdam, and SUNY Cortland. Her favorite thing about a career in education is the long-term growth she sees in her students, and she looks to accomplish that by creating a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for her kindergartners every day. “I love seeing the growth in children between September and June,” she said. “Even though the days can be long and hard, seeing the children grow over the course of the school year is an amazing gift.” She credits the Camden staff, along with a scenic commute, for making her transition to a new role a lot easier. “Every single person I have met so far has been friendly and helpful. I have many years of teaching under my belt, but learning how Camden "works" is definitely a learning experience. I am very appreciative of the super helpful staff. I am also enjoying my commute so far; the leaves are so pretty!” When she’s not at the front of the classroom, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, photography, and scrapbooking. She has also become quite fond of indoor gardening. Welcome!
