Camden 14, Franklin Academy 2 (Final)
The recent McConnellsville 4th Grade Book Club's "Feeding Camden" Food Drive generated 310 non-perishable items for the Camden Food Pantry! Thank you to all who contributed, including Miss Barber's fourth grade class, who graciously volunteered to bring out the entire donation to a pantry representative's vehicle!
The final results are in from the PARP (Parents As Reading Partners/Pick A Reading Partner) initiative at McConnellsville Elementary!
Students read a total of 2,012 minutes! In first place, 2nd grade read 559 minutes.
The Track and Field program will send junior Dylan Poole to today's state qualifier meet! Poole is the seventh overall seed competing in the Division II Pole Vault in this afternoon's meet, which will be held at Cicero-North Syracuse.

Section III. Class A. Champions. The Blue Devils took care of business yesterday!
A large group of Camden Middle School students participated in NYSSMA Solo Festivals recently. Festivals were held at Central Valley Academy on May 10th and 11th, and Mexico Academy on May 17th and 18th.
The festivals put students' musical skills to the test in a comprehensive manner. These students prepared a solo piece, and did scales and a sight reading exercise in front of highly qualified NYSSMA judges and adjudicators. Following their performance, they receive ratings and feedback from those individuals that they can use to become a stronger musician. This is a long process and an outstanding achievement for our young musicians!
Also, while we're here, let the record show that it makes us very proud to see students rocking the "Schools to Watch" commemorative t-shirts they received at the Middle School's recent initial certification assembly. Don't they look GREAT?!?
6th grade English Language Arts students in Mrs. Gilsenan's classes embarked on an exciting and educational project that combined their love for food with their growing knowledge of grammar. The result? A creative and delicious venture called "Grammar Grub" — a food truck restaurant where every item on their custom made menus not only tantalizes the taste buds but also showcases various parts of speech!
The CMS Marching Blue Devils went on an impressive weekend performance tour for Memorial Day! The band played at parades and ceremonies in Oneida, North Bay, and Taberg throughout the weekend.
If you saw them perform, we're glad you did! If you're looking for your chance, there are some big parades coming up!
On Saturday, June 1st, the band will follow the Yelllow Brick Road to play the Chittenango "Oz Parade" at 2 PM.
On Saturday, June 8th, they will play halftime at the Syracuse FC UPSL Game happening here at the CHS Stadium. Opening kickoff is set for 7 PM.
And on Sunday, June 9th, the band will play for a group of fourteen honorees, numerous other boxing greats, and legions of locals and supporters from all over the world at the Boxing Hall of Fame Parade in Canastota. That parade begins at noon.

Our Unified Basketball team looked terrific in their Senior Day game last week! They'll be in action tonight at New Hartford, and again for their end-of-season event on Thursday at VVS!

Elementary students in the Camden Central School District are once again stocking up for their summer reading endeavors through the generosity of the Tuthill Foundation Grant. For a sixth year, the District is pleased to host a Free Summer Reading Book Fair at Camden Elementary School and McConnellsville Elementary School.
This year, the Fair is running from May 28th to June 4th at McConnellsville Elementary School, and from May 30th to June 6th at Camden Elementary School.
As part of the fair, each student receives a free 25 dollar credit to spend on heavily discounted books. Students will visit the fair during their normally scheduled library times. No other purchases beyond the 25 dollar credit will be allowed, so there is no need to send money in with your child.
The Tuthill Foundation operates to carry on the legacy of longtime Camden residents Virginia and Stedman Tuthill, who believed in supporting educators and students. Through their generosity, our students can continue to have access to books throughout the summer months regardless of their available resources, and build reading comprehension skills by reading in subject areas that interest them.
The District is thankful for the Tuthill family for continuing to provide this generous support to its students, and eternally grateful to Virginia and Stedman Tuthill for keeping our schools in mind as part of their legacy.
A quick note from CMS Principal Brittany DerCola regarding construction's effects on ingress/egress at the Middle School.
BASEBALL: Jamesville Dewitt 6, Camden 5 (Final). The Blue Devils erased multiple two run deficits, including one with the game on the line in the top of the seventh, but the Rams win the title in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the seventh.
The Blue Devils finish a terrific year as sectional runners-up with a 19-4 record. All four of the team's losses came by two runs or less.
Win or lose today, we are very proud of this group for what they have achieved this year.
SOFTBALL UPDATE: The Section III Softball Final has been postponed to Wednesday, May 29th. It will still be a 5 PM start time at Carrier Park in East Syracuse.
At this time (2:41 PM, 5/28), baseball is still set to be played as scheduled at 4 PM at Onondaga CC.
