See below for an informational flyer on the New York Summer EBT program. This state-run program provides families with $120 per eligible child to help with nutritional needs. If a child has received SNAP, Temporary Assistance, or Medicaid during the prior school year, or has been determined eligible for free/reduced price meals through the application process with the National School Lunch Program, they are determined to be automatically eligible and no further action is required. If you are not deemed “Automatically Eligible”, you may still qualify, but must apply for the opportunity to receive benefits. Please note that the Camden Central School District offering free meals to all students through the Community Eligibility Provision does not guarantee a student’s eligibility for this program, and you will need to apply and meet the income eligibility requirements if not already covered under Automatic Eligibility. Per the NYS Office of Temporary and Disability assistance, “Attending a school that offers free meals to all students through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), is not enough to qualify your child for Summer EBT. Only children who are automatically eligible or eligible though an application can receive Summer EBT food benefits.” For questions or more information, visit otda.ny.gov/summerebt, or call the state’s Summer EBT Customer Service Call Center at 1-833-452-0096. Automated information is available 24/7 from that phone number, while agent support is available from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For several years, Camden CSD students have received a free breakfast and lunch through the Community Eligibility Provision without an application requirement. That will continue this year. While not required for meals, we still encourage all district families to fill out the Income Eligibility Form each year, regardless of circumstances. It’s free, it’s confidential, it only takes a few minutes, and it can have a positive impact on the resources available to our staff and students. See the informational graphic below to learn more about how filling out the Income Eligibility Form can make a difference in our school community. Forms are available at https://www.camdenschools.org/o/ccsd/page/food-services, and one will also be sent home with your student(s) at the beginning of the school year. Questions can be directed to the Camden CSD Business Office.

The Kindergarten BootCamp program has begun! This exciting two-week program is in its third year running alongside its companion program, Brain Gain Institute. Kindergarten BootCamp was created to help our incoming Kindergartners with the transition to their first year of full-day school. Miss Leone and Miss Scheftic’s classroom certainly got off to a strong start with this sorting activity! The class used the colors of the Olympic rings to practice sorting objects by color.

District Statement Regarding Lockout on July 30th. On Tuesday, July 30th, The Camden Central School District received a report of shots fired on Preston Hill Road near the shared boundary between the Town of Camden and the Town of Vienna. In the interest of student and staff safety, we initiated lockout procedures at all District buildings until advised by the Oneida County Sheriff's Office that it was safe to resume standard entry and exit protocol at approximately 9:15 AM. Law Enforcement responded to the scene of the alleged incident, and their investigation determined that no shots were fired, and the concern was brought about by an engine backfire from a passing vehicle at that location. At no time do we believe that our staff or students were in any imminent danger. We will continue to be proactive in our response to matters that may potentially affect the safety of our students and staff.
