Even amidst the lingering effects of winter weather, it's good to see a sign of spring. Thanks to all who came out to support the Blue Devils on the diamond yesterday!
April 1-5 is National Assistant Principals Week! A big thank you to Dr. William Snyder, Aaron Fiorini, Amanda Mitchell, and to our Deans of Students, Rebecca Ciotti and Sarah Roth-Trnchik, for all the ways you contribute to the success of our schools!
Step aside, Big Leaguers.... today is our day!
It's Opening Day for Blue Devil Baseball! The varsity squad opens the 2024 regular season with a home matchup against Sandy Creek. Today's game will be played at Camden Yards Field 1, and will start at 4:30 PM. High temperatures are expected to be in the 50s around first pitch today.
Need some softball in your life? You can get a glimpse at this year's teams with scheduled scrimmages for Monday and Tuesday! The JV and Varsity are set to scrimmage at our neighbors from Central Square today at 4:30, and will host ESM on Tuesday at 4:30.
Regular season openers for both teams are scheduled for Thursday, April 11th at Rome Free Academy.
Being part of NJHS means leading by example. Some of Camden Middle School's NJHS members recently did exactly that by coming to Camden Elementary School to read to students! The CES community would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Donaleski for giving their young learners this opportunity to work with some peer role models, and to Mrs. Kiser for her help with scheduling. They're looking forward to the next visit!
Ahead of the upcoming solar eclipse, we were fortunate to host a meteorologist from the National Weather Service today! He started his day at McConnellsville Elementary, where he showed students how an eclipse works and stressed the importance of following safety guidelines when viewing this rare event! Our students were a terrific audience and asked great questions!
We also held assemblies for students from Camden Middle School and Camden Elementary School today. We're a bit over a week away from seeing a total eclipse in action right in our community!
Ahead of the Easter holiday, Mrs. Riegler's class had a visit from some-bunny special! We were "hopping" with excitement to find out who it was. In fact, you could say we were all "ears."
Have a wonderful holiday weekend, one and all!
Students in Mrs. Calabro's Math 8 classes are just FLIPPING over the Pythagorean Theorem!
Last week, Camden Middle School's Mrs. Willson was able to come to Mrs. Gonzalez’s first grade class at CES for Agricultural Literacy Week (3/18-3/22). She read the book, “I Love Strawberries!” to the class, showed them a real strawberry plant, and explained the life cycle of a strawberry. She even brought in real strawberries for the students to enjoy with yogurt and homemade whipped cream for dipping!
Highlights from Camden Middle School's Youth Art Month Spirit Week celebration!
MES, CES, and CMS Families:
Don't forget about tonight's Reading Extravaganza! The fun starts at 5:30 at Camden Elementary School!
On Friday, March 22nd, a group of 10 student leaders from the Camden Central School District attended a YAC (Youth Activation Summit) hosted by Special Olympics New York at Whitesboro High School. Groups from around the Tri-Valley League participated in a variety of activities centered around inclusivity and whole-school involvement.
There was plenty of inter-scholastic collaboration, and our Camden students made us proud by taking leadership roles in the discussions.
Camden students in attendance were:
Nevaeh Meyers
Ryen Lago
Katherine Redden
Liz Conover
Kinley Snyder
Zack Odom
Adam Gonzalez
Cody Piersall
Zach Giarrusso
Landon Loomis

On Saturday, March 23rd, the Camden High School choir, under the direction of Amanda Hughes, performed the Star Spangled Banner ahead of a Major Arena Soccer League match between Utica City FC and the St. Louis Ambush!
Between two different group sales, and a healthy number of season ticket members in our community, we saw well over 75 Camden folks out to enjoy the game and see the performance!
We will have video of the performance for you in the coming days.
Also, if you're interested in attending the team's playoff home game in the Eastern Conference semis, we hear the team will be announcing a date and time for that very soon......
Be proactive ahead of the upcoming Solar Eclipse. Take a moment to review https://eclipse.aas.org/eye-safety for information on safe eclipse viewing.

Attention all CES, MES, and CMS families! Feel free to join us for this free district-wide event on Wednesday, beginning at 5:30 PM at CES!
We had a Wednesday morning visitor in the office! Agriculture instructor Karly Marshman brought over Elena the African Leopard Tortoise! Elena has been in the ag room for a few months now. She is 14 years old, and typically, these quiet and friendly creatures often live over 50 years, and in some cases, closer to 100 years!
On Thursday, McConnellsville Elementary continued the long-running tradition of hosting the Learning Fair! The Learning Fair goes beyond a traditional science fair and challenges students to explore a topic that is interesting to them. We had over 30 projects this year!
Hopefully, we've inspired some students to try something new!
Some pictures from our recent meeting of the "Look at Me, I'm Three!" program. We're so excited about how much these young learners are growing and can't wait to see them all again at our April meeting!
Behold.... the power of cheese!
Students from the Agriculture elective learned about the basics of cheesemaking from Cornell Cooperative Extension's Dairy in the Classroom educator! They learned about the science of cheese and how to make it at home.
