This week, we celebrate National School Social Work Week, a time to recognize and appreciate the profound impact our school social workers have on our school community. They tirelessly provide emotional support, guidance, and resources that enhance our students’ academic and personal growth. Whether it’s leading group sessions, one-on-one counseling, or developing strategies for overall student well-being, our Social Work team is always there with a compassionate heart and expert advice.
This week in their Art time with Miss Lis, Mr. Crawford's pre-k students made these abstract action drawings using markers, paper, and an old favorite - compact discs!
March is Music in Our Schools Month, and this will be a special one as the National Association for Music Education (https://nafme.org/) celebrates MIOSM for its 40th year!
Per NAFME, the purpose of MIOSM is to raise awareness of the importance of music education for all children—and to remind citizens that school is where all children should have access to music. MIOSM is an opportunity for music teachers to bring their music programs to the attention of the school and the community, and to display the value that school music brings to students of all ages.
For us in Camden, that means concerts for Middle and High School students! We hope to see you at one or more of them this month to support our students!
The Look at Me, I'm Three Program will have its next meeting on Wednesday, March 12th at Camden Elementary School!
This program is a collaborative effort between the Camden Central School District and Ready 4 Kindergarten. It is for students who will be Pre-K eligible for the 2025-26 school year.
To attend Look at Me I'm Three this year, a child must have had their third birthday on or before December 1st, 2024.
Monthly RSVPs are required to attend. Reach out to our Family School Navigator, Patti Ferretti (pferretti@camdencsd.org) to confirm your attendance.
How's this for a cool idea?
Rather than nominate students directly to be recognized at this month's "Cougars with Character" assembly, Mrs. Platt and Mr. Janes took a different approach. Each time students were noticed doing something kind, they were given an entry blank to put into the "Kindness Box". The more things they did, the better their chances to receive the award. The winners were drawn at last week's assembly, which made for a wonderful surprise!

At last week's Camden Elementary School Character Assembly for third and fourth grades, the focus was on kindness! Congratulations to all of our recognized students!
On Friday, 2/28, McConnellsville Elementary students in grades K-4 held their CKH Character Assembly for February! This month's focus was kindness! Second graders led a reading of "Try a Little Kindness" by Henry Cole, and acted out skits of different scenarios where kindness is a choice to make.
A great group of students was recognized for how they show kindness at school, and we also recognized 80 students for perfect attendance in the last month!
Our elementary focus for March is Courage!

Youth Art Month is an annual observance each March to emphasize the value of art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs.
Miss Schaehfer's second grade class has been learning about how the rotation and revolution of the earth marks time, turns night into day, and changes the seasons!
On Thursday, March 6th, the Camden Middle School chapter of the National Junior Honor Society will hold its 2025 induction ceremony! 42 students are set to be inducted.

CHS senior Sydney Matthews was busy during the weekend of February 28th and March 1st, to say the least!
Between three performances of the CHS Musical, "Mamma Mia!", Matthews had to change into an entirely different character on Saturday morning as she participated in the 37th Annual Regional Shakespeare Competition at Syracuse Stage! She earned this opportunity as the champion of the annual CHS Shakespeare Competition held earlier this year.
Performing amidst a field of numerous incredible student performers, Sydney did a remarkable job with her portrayal of Queen Margaret from Richard the III and her performance of Sonnet 130.
This year, she has also amassed some other impressive performing arts credits including appearances in the Area All-State Choir, and the MCMEA Winter All-County Choir.
Way to go Sydney!
The Camden High School Business Department is proud to announce that Xenia Kirby is their Business Department "Employee of the Month" award winner!
Xenia has taken multiple business classes including Web Page Design, MVCC CAPPS and MVCC Spreadsheet Applications. She has also met the criteria for the Business and Marketing Honor Society for which she is currently a member.
Xenia displays many employability skills in our business classes including reliability, positive work ethic and teamwork. She serves as a role model for other students in the Business Department. For the reasons above and many others we are proud to present her with this honor.
When life gives you lemons..... Make lemonade! McConnellsville Elementary had its Valentine's Day Dance postponed due to a delay, so they made the occasion into a 100th Day dance instead!
CMS has talent, and they can't wait to show you! Join us in the CMS Auditorium on the evening of Friday, March 7th for the 2025 Camden Middle School talent show! The show starts at 6:30 PM.
