The CMS Library asked if anyone had some extra puzzles around, and our school community stepped up to the plate! A few students already took care of finishing one, and they're excited to tackle the rest! These are a great way to reinforce critical thinking and problem solving skills.

After a slow start to the winter, our Alpine Ski Team has been loving the conditions lately!

Elementary Families.... let's test your knowledge today!
Today's "One School, One Book" trivia question from Camden Elementary is listed below. It is from last night's assigned reading: Part 2, Chapter 1 from "The Year of Billy Miller."
Image credit goes to Lauren Platt at CES, who shared this with CES families yesterday on ParentSquare.
Don't forget tonight's reading! Part 2, Chapter 2!

Want to get an early start on your spring cleaning? The McVille Nurse's Office would love to talk to you about your extra clothes, especially any items your student has outgrown over time. They are very helpful for spills, accidents, etc. If you have any extra clothes to spare, send them in with your student, drop them off at the main office, or reach out to krounds@camdencsd.org.

The Camden Central School District is pleased to announce the launch of its new "Before the Bell" Before School program!
Beginning February 1st, this free program will provide supervision, activities, breakfast, and more before each school day for students attending Camden Elementary and McConnellsville Elementary. A separate program will operate at each building.
The program's daily schedule will start at 7:55 AM, and students will have a chance to eat breakfast before starting school for the day. There will be no program on days where school is closed or delayed.
Registration openings are limited. If you are interested in registering your child for this opportunity, please return the registration form that is coming home with your student no later than Friday, 1/26.
After that form has been returned, the main office of your child's school will contact you to establish if your child has been accepted, or placed on the waitlist if applicable.
If you have questions, or your registration form does not arrive with your student in a timely manner, please contact the main office of your child's school to make arrangements to receive one.

Pictures from Wednesday's girls wrestling match against Baldwinsville! We continue to see tremendous strides from this group in the second year of the program, and we couldn't be more excited for what our state invitational qualifiers do on Friday.

Camden FFA member Patrick Eveleth found a new friend earlier this week!

As the weekend rests on the horizon, let's take a moment to applaud everyone involved in Wednesday's spelling bee at CMS. From the Camden Middle School ELA department's efforts to organize this, to our students who had the courage to take the stage and give it their best shot, we're proud of each one of you.

12 McVille fourth graders are part of a Lego Robotics club on Tuesday and Thursday mornings before school. Tuesday's build was called "Classic Carousel", but the students brainstormed ways to enhance their builds and programs to make them "Crazy Carousels".

Last week in McVille art class with Miss Lis, Miss Fasulo’s kindergarteners finished their warm and cool colored snowmen. They did a great job using watercolor paint and oil pastels safely!

That feeling when you get out of trouble early, and rally quickly to get the win. We can confirm the atmosphere in the gym, at this moment, was positively electric.

Everybody wants to rule the "Word".
That's not actually how the song goes, but it certainly describes what nearly 60 competitors were thinking at last night's Camden Middle School Spelling Bee. Over about 90 minutes, our students spelled words from every corner of the dictionary until we had one competitor left standing.
Eighth grader Mary Hall was our winner in the thirteenth round. Her winning word was "Congregation". Last year's co-champion, eighth grader Justin Melnick, was second. Seventh grader Max Scholz rounded out our podium with a great run into the 10th round.
Mary has earned the opportunity to advance to the at-large Scripps regional qualifier if she elects to do so.
Congratulations to all of our contestants!

This year, the CCSD agriculture program was awarded the NYS FFA new program Incentive grant! This money helped purchase many new "tools" for the agriculture program including two new enclosures for the guinea pigs and chinchillas!

The Camden Girls' Varsity Volleyball program recently held its senior night festivities for the Class of 2024! Senior players Brooke Musch, Avery Prievo, Leah Runion and Braelin Page, along with manager Kevin Gloude, have played an important role in positioning the Blue Devils at an outstanding 11-0 start, and building off the great strides the program made last year under head coach Katherine Migliori.
The Blue Devils are just one of three teams in Section III Girls' Winter Volleyball to be undefeated at this point, and are the only unbeaten squad in Section III Class A!
The team is set to be back at home tonight against ESM! Match time is set for 7 PM!

Last week in art class with Miss Lis, 3rd graders from Miss Beach’s class at McVille learned about clay. Students saw sculptures created by Dale Chihuly and discussed how artwork can be made for beauty and function. They also learned about the different places we can see art in our lives.

At last night's Board of Education meeting, it was our privilege to present Connor Dean '23 with his state championship ring!
The 2023 boys' pentathlon state champion is now in his freshman year at Utica University, where he has been mainly competing in sprint and jumping events up to this point for the Pioneers. Utica returns to the track on Friday night at Hamilton College.
