Introducing..... McConnellsville kindergarten teacher Emily Wood!
Emily is a graduate of the College of St. Rose. Her favorite thing about being an educator is watching her students become their own person.
She says she is passionate about providing a safe and loving environment for growth and development, while also leaving room for the right amount silliness each day!
When she’s not teaching, you can find her hiking, taking her dog Goob on adventures, and solving puzzles!

US History Classes at CHS spent their thursday on a tour of Fort Stanwix! We'll have more about this coming soon at camdenschools.org!

The CMS Agriculture Elective recently answered the classic question: How do ya like them apples?
....Literally.
The Agriculture elective class at CMS recently celebrated Apple Day! 🍎 Students were able to hear the tale of how the apple got it's start, watch a clip on apple orchards, and also enjoyed comparing and contrasting "wild" apples and store bought/orchard grown apples. Students taste tested the apples and learned about apple varieties!
Like many things we do in agriculture, it's all about creating an appreciation of where our food comes from!

Today, we would like to introduce you to Camden Elementary School third grade teacher Garrett Janes! Garrett is a graduate of Rome Free Academy and SUNY Potsdam. His favorite part about being an educator is making connections with students. “There is nothing greater than showing interest in their lives and helping them excel in what makes them happy,” he said. He says he has been truly overwhelmed by the generosity of his new colleagues and credits them for a seamless transition into the District. When he’s not teaching, Garrett loves spending time with his wife and daughter and enjoys cycling and skiing with them.

It's as good of a time as any to remind you that Camden Elementary School's Open House is tonight, Thursday, September 21st!
CMS will host theirs a week from today.

Join the Camden Middle School Community on Thursday, 9/28 for Open House! Come meet your child's teacher and learn more about the CMS experience for the 2023-24 school year! The event runs from 6 to 7:30!
Whether you're coming for the event, or just happen to live in the neighborhood, you'll have some options for dinner that night if you wish. Principal Brittany DerCola has just confirmed via ParentSquare that the Oh Crepe and Waffles, and Savage Eats food trucks will be set up outside on the basketball court with food available for purchase. They will be open from 4:30 pm until 7:00 pm.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be introducing you to many of our new staff members here at Camden! There's no better way to start than with a returning CHS graduate, Mara Stone '19!
Mara is back as a second grade teacher with us after attending school in Camden! She attended college at LeMoyne. Her favorite part about the job is making a difference in students’ lives at Camden Elementary School.
“Getting to work with kids has always been a goal of mine," she said. "Now that I am finally doing it I feel I am right where I belong.”
She says she has appreciated being immediately welcomed as part of the team and not just as a new person.
When Mara isn’t at the front of the classroom, she is spending time with friends and family, watching the Buffalo Bills, and snowmobiling.
Welcome home, Miss Stone!

Mum was the word for two members of the Camden High School chapter of the National Honor Society! Seniors Ava Platt and Hailey Roth recently took it upon themselves to improve the aesthetics of the school sign located on the corner of Oswego Street and Florence Hill Street, and the video signboard located in front of the main entrance of CHS. The two students planted mums that will withstand the tough Central New York winters, and added a fresh layer of mulch to brighten up the area.

Students at Camden Middle School got a different kind of science lesson on Tuesday, August 19th. Particularly, a lesson involving “the sweet science”. The student body came together to hear from retired US amateur boxing legend Cam F. Awesome at an assembly held in the Camden High School Auditorium.
Awesome, previously known as Lenroy Thompson, is the winningest amateur boxer in US History. He is a four-time US National Champion in super heavyweight boxing, and a three-time winner of the prestigious Golden Gloves tournament. He has over 325 career wins.
After hanging up the gloves for good, Awesome now tours the globe speaking at schools, community events, and corporate events. To Camden, he brought a message of gratitude, positivity, and the importance of stepping out of your comfort zone to achieve your goals.
Want to learn more about Cam's story and bring it into your home? He was featured in the 2017 film "Counterpunch", streaming now on Netflix!
Cam also spoke to Camden High School students today!

Mark your calendars for October 28th as the Camden PBA holds its very popular "Spooktacular" event!
