On Thursday July 25th, Encore Jazz students went to a Jazz master class hosted by the State Bridge Collective in Durhamville. They were hosted by local musicians Liz Ingersoll, Jameson Dunham, Jack Smith and Jeff Ingersoll.
Naturally, the E-Magination cabin held an art show at Wednesday's Camp Showcase day!
Whether it was building a carnival ride, a pinball machine, or in this case, a hockey game, the LEGO Creators cabin was up to the task! While showing off their building skills, the students learned a lot about problem-solving and basic programming.
It may only last two weeks each year, but the memories will last a lifetime.

Was the Ninja Warriors cabin full of energy? Of "Course" it was! Along the way, they learned about teamwork, sportsmanship, creativity, and the importance of an active lifestyle.

Is your student the next great inventor? Well, they would love our Lego Innovators Cabin! The Innovators Cabin takes the skills learned in the Creators Cabin, and takes them to some next level applications! When we visited on Tuesday, students were building safes, and were quick to show off their work including an impressive robot!
Blue Devil JV/Varsity Football Players: Have you registered yet? Make sure that you do so that you're ready to strap on the helmet next month and get right to work. Remaining JV and Varsity Sports will have registration open on Friday, and Modified registration begins on August 3rd.

The Gymnastics Cabin wrapped up its regular activities during the Camp Showcase with this medal ceremony! Our young gymnasts have certainly earned it with their progress in the last two weeks!
Who doesn't love science time with Professor K? This morning, the First Grade Light Blue Cabin worked with "Camden's Most Cheerful Mad Scientist" for some hands-on activities!
The group started off by working in pairs using small catapults. One partner was responsible for aiming the catapult, while the other was responsible for trying to catch the erasers it launched in a paper cup. This was a fun way to demonstrate concepts such as propulsion, leverage, and the basics of simple machines to the campers. The cabin was then split up into teams for a relay race using buckets of sand and a laboratory balance. When the mass of the sand exceeded the set weight on the balance, it tipped to signal they had reached the finish line. Finally, they participated in an ultimate test of teamwork by using slingshots to launch pom poms across the basketball court. Each student needed to perform their role flawlessly to get the slingshot to launch correctly.
This is one cabin where tooting your own horn is not only encouraged, it's a requirement.
Our Encore Jazz Cabin put on a terrific four-song set this morning! The setlist included the Latin Jazz favorite "What's Cookin" by Victor Lopez, the John Coltrane classic "Blue Train", the Louis Armstrong standard "What a Wonderful World.", and of course, the "Blues Brothers Rockin' Soul Revue", which contained several memorable songs from the motion picture.

Our amazing "Drama Central" cabin put on an impressive show this morning with their annual production, "The Three Little Pigs Rap."
We look forward to seeing what they do next on stage!
Our Grade 1 Green cabin took some time in the fresh air to enjoy a mid-morning snack!
