Students from the Culinary Arts cabin went on a field trip to the Tailwater Lodge in Altmar! While there, they got a professional lesson in breading chicken before the chef cooked their creation!
Fresh off a nutritious and balanced lunch, our campers were ready to tackle the afternoon.
Did you know that Mr. Ferretti was once a winner on Iron Chef? The featured ingredient was popcorn, and his opponent was totally baffled.
(This is really just a picture of him making popcorn for our campers, but we'll keep that between us......)
The students in the Camp-Sum-More-Fun Construction Crew can't stop raving about these ping pong ball launchers they made! Students worked to cut and finish the wood, assemble the components, and attached the necessary hardware to make these a reality. They spent the afternoon trying to put the balls into buckets to win some camp bucks for the Camp Store!
Move aside, Cake Boss.... our students are ready to show you how its done. Last week, our CSMF "Cake Decorating" students were hard at work creating some fun cakes! They decorated a spaghetti and meatballs cake, a beach cake, and a campfire cake. You could say they put the "Art" in Culinary Arts with these creations!
The CMS Agriculture room was quite a zoo today.... Literally. There were plenty of animals on display including ducks, chinchillas, rabbits, tortoises, and of course, our wonderful Ag room dogs are always a hit!
McConnellsville Elementary School is pleased to announce that once again, it will have the necessary supplies on hand for its students to start the 2024-25 school year and will not be issuing a typical building supply list. The provided school supplies are made possible through the fundraising efforts of the McConnellsville PTO, along with the generosity of the McConnellsville Elementary School community.
Please bring a backpack and water bottle to school on the first day. In the event a specific teacher needs additional items for class, they will let you know directly.
Thank you to the McConnellsville PTO for leading this effort on behalf of our students and families. Through the support of the school community year after year, opportunities like this one can be offered.
Join Connected Community Schools for the coolest event this side of the Cretaceous Period... Dino Crafts! It happens on Thursday at Camden Elementary School. As an added bonus, they will have their previously scheduled Fossil making activity, as they were unable to hold it today due to rain.
Extra, Extra, Read All About It!
Our Broadcasting and Digital Media Cabin took a short walking field trip this morning to see our hometown outlet, the Queen Central News, in action! Thanks to Doug, Lisa, and Amber for volunteering their time to show our students how a newspaper gets made each week!
Sometimes the fun of camp comes together with the joy of giving back to the community. Our first grade happy campers group made homemade dog treats and toys and donated them to the Rome Humane Society!
Drones are more than just a full-time career. They can also make an excellent hobby or second career. Matthew Kaido stopped by a second time to work with our students outside of his regular job in Law Enforcement.
On this visit, he was representing his own business, CNY Pet Recovery. He demonstrated how infared technology can be used with drones to locate missing pets through their thermal signatures.
The "Ninja Warriors" cabin spent Monday visiting the Warrior Factory in Camillus! Students had the opportunity to test their skills and their teamwork on professional grade equipment, just like they would see on television.
Our first grade happy campers kicked off the new week by enjoying some ice cream sundaes courtesy of our area Stewart's Shops locations!

Just wait until you see what we cook up during week two of Camp Sum-More-Fun!
In case you missed it, a sweet new decoration is up on the wall by the CMS Auditorium!
"A terrific shot off the tee, and he's one step closer to the green jacket."
Our Broadcast Journalism and Digital Media cabin members put on their reporter hats during a recent visit with some of our "Happy Campers" students. The Broadcasting students conducted brief interviews with their younger peers, and will be preparing a report based on the responses given.
We're starting the campaign now to have the drone included on next year's MLB All-Star Ballot. We know, it's a long shot.
However, we are SURELY looking forward to next week's Camp Sum-More-Fun activities!
