Let's take a moment to acknowledge some of our very special guest stars from last weekend's performances. First, the youth ensembles. Because of the makeup of the script, the show "Oliver!" provides our elementary and middle school students with a unique chance to be part of the company with the high school students. It's challenging and rewarding at the same time. This group of approximately 35 students had the responsibility to set the tone for the show with the opening number, and they exceeded the standard set before them. Whether it's in a middle school or high school production, we look forward to seeing all of you on stage again soon!

Congratulations to the cast and crew of our 2024 CHS Musical, "Oliver!". Over two days, these students, of all ages, put on three spectacular shows. Getting ready for the show is no easy task, as it requires months of preparation and personal commitment to the task at hand. The hard work pays off in performance, along with the profound personal growth and learning that can happen when a student participates in theater. Bravo!

Join us on Wednesday, March 13th for the March meeting of "Look At Me, I'm Three!". This program is a Pre-K Prep program for students who have turned three years old on or before December 1st, 2023, and will be Pre-K eligible for the Fall. As part of this program, students and their parents/guardians will have opportunities to interact with District staff, as well as each other, to build a strong learning community throughout the year ahead of starting Pre-K in the Fall! Make sure to RSVP to Patti Ferretti if you intend to bring your child to this month's meeting. It is helpful for activity planning, and also ensures that your information is on file for Pre-Kindergarten information.

On Monday, Camden Elementary School first graders were able to learn more about our night sky. They learned about stars, constellations, and stories that are told with the constellations by using the STARLAB Mobile Planetarium! This is made possible with the help of Madison-Oneida BOCES Staff and Curriculum Development in association with Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES.

On Monday, March 4th, Camden Music Teacher Joseph Perrotta represented the Camden Central School District and New York State School Music Association at the 51st Annual Joseph R. Sugar NYSSMA Advocacy Day at Albany's Empire State Plaza. The event occurs during March, which is known as "Music in Our Schools Month" across New York State. During this time, NYSSMA arranges a day in Albany for music educators to meet with State Legislators. Each zone works collaboratively with NYSSMA to schedule times with their assembly members and senators in Albany to discuss current issues and how they may affect music programs for students. This is also an opportunity to express gratitude for continued support of music education.

Congratulations to Dillan Melchiore '22 on becoming a National Champion! Melchiore, representing the University of the Cumberlands, won the 2024 NAIA Indoor National Championship in the 3,000 Meter Racewalk with a time of 12:56.8. The racewalk is an incredibly challenging discipline that is as much a physical test as it is a mental test. Melchiore has also competed at the championship in the 4x800 relay. Longtime Camden teammate Lizzy Lucason '22 has also been competing at the championship and has an 18th place finish in the one mile run, and her 4x800 relay team put down the tenth fastest time of the prelims. Way to go!
