It's been an exciting week in classrooms at Camden Middle School and Camden Elementary School as we get started on this year's "Trout in the Classroom" program!
Mr. Paul Miller of the Fish Creek Atlantic Salmon Club and the Tug Hill Chapter of Trout Unlimited delivered over 800 fish eggs to the classrooms of Mr. Janes, Mrs. Platt, Mrs. Lapier, Ms. Beach, Mrs. Turner, and Dr. Goff. This wonderful program is sponsored by the two clubs, and teaches our students valuable lessons about local wildlife. The teachers would like to thank Mr. Miller and the clubs for continuing to support this important classroom program that connects to the science curriculums in 3rd, 6th, and 7th grades throughout the year!

A bit of spare change has added up to make a big difference for some local animals seeking a new home. Mrs. Malenowski's third grade IFA reading group at McConnellsville Elementary School is pleased to announce that they have raised an impressive $825.19 from this year's "Pennies for Puppies, Coins for Kitties" initiative!
During this event, the third graders in the group challenge their fellow students to bring in as much spare change from home as possible to support the animals at the Rome Humane Society. This year, the fundraiser ran from October 22nd until November 4th.
While supporting a good cause, the students learn a lot about communication skills, leadership, and setting goals. In this case, the students set an original goal of $350.00, and with the help of their peers, they quickly surged past that number. The group then decided to challenge themselves even further by aiming for more than $750.00, and they smashed that mark as well!
Thanks to all who stepped up to support this effort!
Election Day is a great day for students to learn how the process works, such as in Mrs. Riegler's Kindergarten Class! The class listened to the audiobook of "Duck for President", then cast their votes for either Duck or Farmer Brown in the voting booth!
